Natural Resource Coordinator

Natural Resource Coordinator - summer Supervisor Whitehouse Nature Center Director Salary $9.25 - $11.00 per hour based on experience Time Commitment Start around May 7, 2018 and work through mid August 2018; position based on 40 hours per week; daily hours may vary however it is mainly an 8 am – 5 pm shift; must be available Monday through Friday and some weekends/evenings.

Job Description Under the direction of the Director, conduct general maintenance of the center and natural resource management. Assist/coordinate conservation projects such as – trail maintenance and signage; invasive species removal; landscaping; tree care; and wildlife monitoring programs – butterflies; reptiles and amphibians. May be called on to assist in the daily operation of the center, its educational programs and/or the Student Farm. General supervision of other student workers and volunteers. Some computer use. Qualifications Science background preferred but not required General knowledge of the sciences and gardening but not required Basic knowledge of the flora and fauna of Michigan is desirable Basic knowledge of hand and power tools; mowers; weed-eaters Ability and desire to work with people of all ages in a pleasant, enthusiastic and appropriate manner Neat in appearance while on duty (representing the Nature Center and Albion College) Good verbal and written communication skills Ability to work alone as well as with coworkers Valid driver’s license Working Conditions This position requires the employee to be outdoors the majority of the time with exposure to heat, wind, rain and mosquitoes.
