Fixed Asset Accountant (student employee)

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Position Title: Fixed Asset Accountant (student employee)
Department: Administrative Services
Supervisor: Chief Financial Officer/Director of Finance
Position Duration: Summer 2021, Academic Year 21-22

The Administrative Services Office supervises cash management and supports proper expenditure to promote the growth of the College. The Fixed Asset Accountant has broad responsibility for financial accounting and control and compliance of the College. He/she participates as part of the Administrative Services team in development of accounting policies and procedures that promote productive, efficient processes and customer friendly service to both internal and external customers of the institution.

General Duties (all levels)

  • Prepares, Reviews, Reconciles transactions for capital expenditures
  • Assists in maintaining the fixed assets system.  
  • Strategic understanding of the Capital Expenditure process.
  • Prepare and process journal entries.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Entry-Level Fixed Asset Accountant:
  • Knowledge of College mission, services, policies and procedures.
  • Understands the basic accounting principles (typically acquired in the completion of EM 211).
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills.
  • Knowledge of personal computer applications including but not limited to spreadsheets, word processing and databases (Google Sheet, Docs, MS Word, Excel).
  • Able to articulate strategies and implement policies.
  • Able to work cooperatively with others and accept direction from supervisors.
  • Ability to appropriately handle sensitive and confidential material.  
  • Ability to meet deadlines and process information in a timely fashion.
Upper Level Fixed Asset Accountant:
  • Take the lead on the capital expenditure process. 
  • able to make sound independent decisions demonstrating professional judgment.
  • Able to articulate strategies and implement policies.
