Peer Tutor
The Cutler Center for Student Success is committed to breaking down silos, developing student-centered strategies, creating connected networks across campus, and enhancing our capacity to be a more effective learning organization. Staff in the Cutler Center will provide tutoring, fellowship advising, disability accommodations, academic coaching, supplemental advising, and emergency financial support. As part of our staff team, peer tutors are representatives of Albion College and the Cutler Center and provide the student population with supplemental support in specific subject areas and courses on campus.; the peer tutor's role is to help students learn for themselves through various techniques and methods.
General Duties and Expectations
● Communicate difficult concepts in simple language, using more than one method as needed
● Explain expectations for independent work in college-level courses
● Normalize the struggle of learning how to learn difficult material
● Assist students to build on current understanding/knowledge
● Interact calmly with students who may be stressed
● Interact respectfully with students from diverse backgrounds
● Maintain effective communication with peers, faculty, and staff at Albion College
● Maintain confidentiality
● Maintain accurate and timely records following each session
● Use ACIS Time Clock to accurately record work hours as required
● Report to sessions on time as scheduled
● Participate in training activities as required
