The Office of Campus Life provides learning opportunities for all students to belong, engage, and lead, in a supportive and inclusive environment.

General Duties (all levels)
● Cover the Office of Campus Life office during the hours of operation
● Assist with walk-in traffic. Answering questions or directing people to the professional staff in the
office.
● Assist students coming to the office to pick up student organization checks or packages.
● Assist with general office duties including answering phones, picking up and sorting mail, logging
in packages, filing, coping, preparing office materials, or other office projects as assigned.
● Assist with events sponsored by the Office of Campus Life such as Briton Bash, which may
include but not limited to helping to gather supplies, assisting with set-up and take-down, and
signing students up for the events.
● Develop and distribute marketing materials for events associated with the office.
● Assist with social media posts and write articles as needed.
● Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Entry-Level Duties
● Cover the Office of Campus Life office during the hours of operation

● Assist with events sponsored by the Office of Campus Life, interfacing and networking with the
greater Albion community and campus wide organizations.

Upper Level Duties
● Assist with training other new student desk workers.
● Coordinate and facilitate the interface between the Office of Campus Life and the Admissions
Office for “Admissions Days.”
● Assist in the development and facilitation of peer workshops.
● Develop and distribute marketing materials for events associated with the office.
● Assist with social media posts and write articles as needed.

● Become more comfortable talking on the phone and learn professional phone etiquette.

● Learn office skills and be able to transfer them to a later career.
● Articulate and promote the work and ideals of the Office of Campus Life.
● Plan and lead training sessions and workshops supporting the mission of the office.

Career Readiness Competencies and Transferable Skills
Students will be able to demonstrate the following Career Readiness Competencies (NACE Career
readiness Competencies) through:
● Demonstrate critical thinking/problem solving - Answering the phone and assisting with walk-in
traffic when people stop by or call with a variety of questions.
● Oral/written communications - Learning how to talk on the phone in a professional manner and
relaying information and messages to the professional staff members in the office.
● Teamwork/collaboration - Working together as a team to accomplish projects and working in an
environment where we thrive on a team atmosphere.
● Digital technology - Using equipment in the office such as the computer, printer, copier and fax
machine using social media platforms.
● Leadership - Training additional Office of Campus Life student staff and facilitating workshops
alongside office staff.
● Professionalism/work ethic - Learning professional office etiquette, dress code, phone etiquette,
and responsible for showing up on time and clocking in properly on the time card.
● Career management - Utilizing the skills in the Office for Campus Life for future career paths.
● Global/intercultural fluency - Working with students, faculty and staff from various backgrounds.

Learning Outcomes Assessment:
● With the supervisor, the student employee will complete the Student Employee Performance
Evaluation midway through the semester and at the end of the semester

Training
● One hour paid training of office and job overview, with additional ongoing training as needed.
● Training will be done by the Office of Campus Life

Student employees must complete tax forms (W-4 Withholding Allowance Certificates) and
proof of work eligibility (I-9) before beginning work as an Albion College Student
Employee.

Completed forms must be delivered in person (bringing the required documentation) to
the Human Resources Office which is located in 225 Ferguson. All forms should be
completed in ink, not pencil and students should use their permanent address on all forms
unless the permanent address is an international address.
